Vida: Tonkar 386-2 (2020) signed, limited edition
The word Tonkar comes from the verlan (a French slang) word “carton”, meaning cardboard. The concept of the Tonkars was born in 2012 when French artist Vida took the refined aesthetics of his acrylic paintings into three dimensional space. Using recycled materials for convenience as much as for ecological conviction, Vida created sculptures that sublimated the nature of these materials. He then photographed his creations, reworked them digitally, and pushed the process until the original photo became unrecognizable and morphed into a powerful, poetic and vibrant image.
For the first time in the United States, Tonkars are now available as limited edition, signed prints on The Art Motion.
